Crowns/Caps
A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. A crown protects and strengthens a tooth that does not have adequate structure for supporting biting forces. Several reasons for a tooth to need a crown include broken or fractured teeth, decayed teeth, fractured fillings, large fillings or a tooth that has had a root canal. Crowns can be made of all metal (gold), all porcelain or a combination of metal and porcelain depending on the support required by the bite. |
