Implant Restorations

Implants or “root replacements” utilize a titanium root positioned in the jawbone to which an artificial tooth or crown is attached. The implant and crown look and function very similar to natural teeth and is considered a permanent lifetime restoration. The placement of the implant (root replacement) should be performed by an oral surgeon or a periodontist. After a healing phase of 4-6 months, the dentist applies the final crown. Implants can also be used to anchor a bridge or dentures.
